ABOUT US

Toronto Carpentry Co is built on a respect for traditional craftsmanship, thoughtful restoration, and practical problem-solving.

I’m the founder and lead carpenter, Eoin (pronounced Owen). Originally from London, England, I began my career working on a wide range of residential properties—many of them older homes full of character. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of period properties and the challenges that often come with them: uneven floors, crooked walls, and out-of-square openings.

That experience shapes how I approach every project—working carefully, adapting to the realities of the building, and respecting what makes each home unique.

Approach

My goal is always the same: honest, high-quality craftsmanship, close attention to detail, and work that feels right for the space. I aim to find lasting solutions that work with the home rather than against it.

Beyond designing and building new custom elements, preservation is central to what I do. Where it makes sense, I often recommend repairing existing features rather than replacing them. Original wood details—especially doors—are frequently worth saving. Issues such as poor fit, malfunctioning locks, drafts, damaged or rotted sections, and outdated glass can often be resolved through careful restoration. This approach preserves the character of the home while remaining practical, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible.

Material quality is also a priority. I prefer working with solid woods such as Oak, Mahogany and Poplar, along with Baltic birch plywood for cabinetry and built-ins where strength and stability matter. Using the right materials ensures work that not only looks good, but stands the test of time.

I also understand that having work done in your home can be disruptive. I take care to work cleanly and efficiently, keeping the site as tidy and organized as possible throughout the project.
